Photographic Skills

Which of the following photographic features/equipment have you used on a camera before:

Manual Focus features	x		I have used this feature in all of my photography, a lot in my photoshoot. We used DSLR camera which have the big lenses and we used these to zoom in and out and therefore I had to use the focus lense to focus my pictures.
Shutter Speed	x		This is a feature that appears in my blog on the 22nd of october 2013, me and my classmate, Lauren used this feature in a dark room using a torch. I believe I have used this skill to a good level because I was able to slow the shutter speed down to get the effect of the torch in my pictures, we were able to write our names and also create different shapes with this feature.
Aperture control	x		I have also developed this feature during this year, I used aperture control when experimenting with the camera, and is in my blog on the 11th of February. I experimented with different types of apertures.
ISO Control	x		I also have used ISO this year, I also used this feature when developing my photographic skills. I was practicing my photographic skills in preparation for my product, this feature features on my blog on the 11th of february.
A tripod		x
External flash	x		In my photoshoot I used softboxes to create a softer tone to my pictures. You are able to see this in my photography on my blog on Tuesday 1st April 2014.

Composition grids	x		I have used composition grids in my photography recently, I tried to use the rule of thirds in my pictures. If the models eyes are above the middle line this make the model look confident, if the models eyes are below the line it makes them look small and vulnerable and therefore this is why I tried to use this skill in my photography to match the tone of my product. An example of when I have used composition grids in my work is the blog entry on Wednesday 9th October.

Photoshop Skills

Text control	x		I have used this skill when using creating my final product, I have used this on the masthead, skyline and sell lines.
Filters	x		I also used filters in my final product, I used these filters to put effects on my images.
Brushes	x		I also have used this feature this year, I used different types of brushes when creating a christmas card which is on my blog and I also have used brushes on my final product. I used brushes on my final product to create a background on my sell lines which looked like they were highlighted and therefore i used brushes to create this look.
Layers	x		I used layers this year for every time I used photoshop, the layers tool in photoshop made it easier to arrange different objects on the page.
Opacity control	x		I used this on my front cover product, this made the sell lines look more see through.
Shape creation	x		I also used this tool in my front cover, I used this tool to create shapes around my text which made my text stand out more because I filled the shapes in with colour which created a background for my text.
Brightness and contrast control	x		I also used this for my final product, I used this tool to change the brightness of my images.
Gradients	x		I also used this feature in my final product.

In Design Skills

Which of the following features of InDesign have you used before:

Have you ever used In design ever before?	x		I have used InDesign frequently the last couple of months to create my double page spread for my final product.
Margin and column guide creation	x		I have used this to create the margins for my double page spread, this therefore made it easier for my to have a clear guide on my page.
Inserting an image ID	x		I have also used this in InDesign, I used this feature by inserting images to use in my final product.
Resizing images in ID	x		I have also used this in InDesign because I resized my image to fit the whole double page spread.
Text manipulation – resizing, rotation	x		I also used this feature for my sell and kicker on my double page spread. I changed the size, colour and rotation if the text because I put it on a slant. I also added drop shadow to my text which made them stand out more.
Text manipulation – controlling kerning and leading		x
Text flow creation	x		I also used this feature in InDesign because I had to move my text into the different text boxes.
